This is the first video in our “Day in the Life of” series.

This series is aimed at giving a voice to the unsung heroes and heroines working hard to support the tourism sector and in turn their families through their earnings.

Video #1 showcases Kailash Kulung, 23, a porter-guide from the Solukhumbu (Everest) region whom Nepal Himal staff met by chance during one of the company’s trekking route surveys in 2025.

We were struck by how young he was. He was studying journalism while taking up porter and guiding jobs on the side.
